#WeMissiPRES is a celebration by the iPress community, organized online by the Digital Preservation Coalition, the Dutch Digital Heritage Network and the National Science Library of China on 22-24th Sep 2020. The event engaged and energized the international digital preservation community including “computing and engineering, libraries and archives, researchers and their audiences, the past and the present, the present and the future”.
The event included reflections on the future directions in digital preservation. In her presentation, “Taking access to the next level: Legacy-software hosting and remote use of archived content”, Intact Digital's Founder and CEO, Natasa Milic-Frayling, shared her optimism that the current ICT innovation and practices can enable lasting digital records and curb the digital obsolescence. By reflecting on the software virtualization techniques, she illustrated how the platform and services that Intact Digital provides enable reliable access to digital content through secure long term use of legacy software.
The event also featured a presentation by Dr Adam Farquhar, Director of Digital Lifecycle Management and contributor to Intact Digital, "Managing risks of long-term software installations", where he proposes a risk-planning and mitigation framework for long-term software installations, developed in collaboration with Dr Angela Dappert.
